Merisant 5 bottles, 4 caps, different products, one machine

CzechPak Manufacturing, s.r.o., a subsidiary of Merisant, the world’s leading producer of natural and artificial sweeteners, has turned to us with their new project after a successful cooperation in the past. It is a universal automatic filler, which can process 5 bottles of different shapes and sizes, close them with 4 different shaped caps, which are both press-on and screw caps, and of course fill them with products of various character from products close to water to natural honey.

Our rotary filler PEWAL 8/4 meets all these requirements. It is a monoblock filler with eight filling valves and an electronic filling system, where the filling quantity is measured by electronic flow meters, in combination with a four-head capper. An essential part of the capping system is the automatic caps sorting and feeding system, which in this case is vibratory with easy conversion to another type of cap by changing the sorting pot. Interchangeable capping heads, including tongs heads, allow both press-on and screw caps to be closed.

Due to the wide variety of bottles in terms of both shapes and volumes, it was necessary to design a special bottle passage through the machine to ensure maximum efficiency. This involves transporting the bottles in special trays from which the bottles are automatically transferred to a plate conveyor behind the filler which conveys them to subsequent machines in the line. The bottle trays move along the conveyor in a closed circuit. Thanks to this solution, after the bottles have been released, the trays are automatically returned in front of the filler, where empty bottles are loaded into them again. At the exit of the machine there is a camera device for the automatic orientation of the bottles according to the cap orientation, where the reversed bottles and their trays are rotated by a pneumatic module.
To increase the hygienic level during bottling, the machine is equipped with a clean room with HEPA filters, which is additionally equipped with the possibility of supplementary heating of the enclosed space for faster filling of honey and other viscous products.
